Resumo

This work aimed to evaluate the rheological and surface properties of biodegradable galactomannan films from Prosopis juliflora (Sw.) DC. cross-linked by citric acid. Initially, galactomannan was obtained through ethanolic extraction, and formulations with 10 to 20% citric acid, glycerin, and corn starch were prepared. The bioplastics were characterized by contact angle, rheology, zeta potential, surface roughness. When evaluating the contact angle, the filmogenic formulations containing galactomannan, starch, and citric acid, F6 and F7, had lower hydrophilicity and higher viscosity with pseudoplastic behavior, typical of polysaccharides. The zeta potential was not able to translate the stability of the filmogenic solutions studied in this work. The results obtained prove the positive influence of citric acid as a crosslinking agent on the properties of galactomannan films from Prosopis juliflora (Sw) DC.
