Dieta plant based na prevenção e tratamento da diabetes mellitus tipo 2

Há algum tempo as doenças crônicas não transmissíveis são consideradas pandêmicas, uma vez que apresentam alto índice de morbidade e mortalidade. Entre elas está a diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Os protocolos de tratamentos convencionais, tanto medicamentosos quanto dietoterápicos, não estão sendo muito eficientes no combate, prevenção e tratamento, mas a dieta Plant Based pode ser uma grande aliada. O objetivo do estudo é demonstrar que por conta de seus efeitos benéficos, uma dieta Plant Based pode ser considerada uma estratégia a ser adotada na prevenção da diabetes tipo 2 e no seu tratamento. Trata-se de uma revisão da literatura, realizada por meio de consultas nas bases de dados do Google Acadêmico, SciELO e PubMed, sites do governo federal, Sociedade Vegetariana Brasileira, IBGE e International Diabetes Association. Como resultado observa-se que a dieta foi capaz de contribuir para a perda de peso, melhoria do metabolismo da glicose e de promoção de uma maior sensibilidade à insulina. Através dos resultados encontrados, conclui-se que a dieta Plant Based pode ser considerada uma estratégia alimentar eficaz na prevenção e no tratamento da diabetes tipo 2.
