Resumo

To assess the usability of a gamified electromyographic biofeedback mobile application to monitor the voluntary contraction of the masseter and suprahyoid muscles. This is a cross-sectional study in a sample of 27 health professionals – dental surgeons and physical and speech-language-hearing therapists –, who used a gamified electromyographic biofeedback mobile application and then assessed it with a visual analog scale (for user satisfaction) and the Measuring Usability of Touchscreen Phone Applications checklist (MATcH-MED). Data underwent descriptive analysis with one-way ANOVA, post hoc, and Tukey test, considering p < 0.05. Participants were satisfied with the system and application. Usability was considered high with MATcH-MED, with a mean of 56.82 points. Physical therapists ascribed very high usability to it, with a significant difference between them and the dentists (p < 0.03). In conclusion, the gamified electromyographic biofeedback application had a high degree of usability, making it apt for monitoring the voluntary contraction of the masticatory and swallowing muscles.
