Perception of health-related quality of life of breast cancer patients at different periods of treatment: a scoping review

Breast cancer is a prevalent disease that can be fatal if left untreated. Patients face a variety of treatments, such as surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, which can affect their quality of life. Although treatment can improve quality of life, it can also have significant side effects. This scoping review seeks to analyze how treatment affects quality of life at different periods, providing valuable insights for healthcare professionals. The methodological criteria established by the Scope Review method proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) were used. For the systematic search and definitions of the descriptors, we chose to use the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS). Research reveals that breast cancer treatment generally negatively impacts patients' quality of life, especially in terms of functional capacity and emotional dimension, with anxiety, depression and stress common.
